SG60 – The Lord’s Grace Fills the Lion City

To celebrate SG60, Bedok Lutheran Church Chinese section held a grand SG60 Thanksgiving Service on August 10.

On that day, the congregation dressed in red and white gathered together in unity to worship and offer gratitude and blessings for the nation’s peace and prosperity.

The message was delivered by former Deacon, Mr David Wang Mei Hsiong, on the theme “SG60 – The Lord’s Grace Fills the Lion City.” He shared about the hardships faced in Singapore’s early nation-building years and praised the resilient and courageous generation who, under the wise leadership of the nation’s leaders, achieved twelve remarkable accomplishments that gained international recognition—truly a miracle.

He also reminded believers of their dual identity as both “citizens of the Kingdom of God” and “citizens of the nation.” In balancing faith and responsibility, Christians should continue to uphold and live out the essence of their faith, care for their neighbors, bear witness to Christ’s love, pray for the country, and work together to build a harmonious society.

After the service, members wrote their SG60 blessings on paper slips and posted them on a notice board to express their well wishes and hopes for the nation. During the refreshment time, the congregation also had the opportunity to view a slideshow featuring 60 old photographs, reminiscing about Singapore’s progress over the past six decades.
