LCS – ONE IN PRAYER for our church – NOVEMBER 2024

LCS – ONE IN PRAYER for our Church

Items for NOVEMBER 2024 – YCCL

For November 2024, let us all be one in prayer for Yishun Christian Church (Lutheran).

Please cover YCCL in the Prayers of the Church, as well as in your Prayer Meeting and small group meetings. Do encourage your members to pray for our churches during their family or personal prayer times.

Pastors have the option to cover the items in a single Sunday or over any number of Sundays for the month. Pastors should also feel free to contact each other for more details and clarifications regarding the items listed, so as to pray with better understanding.

Prayer pointers for YCCL

English Section

  1. Pray for the newcomers to our Youth Service, that they will grow in their faith through consistent follow-up by Youth Care Group (CG) Leaders. Also pray for God to call forth a suitable candidate for Youth Worker to oversee and run the Youth Ministry with the lay leaders, and to equip and raise more leaders for the youths. Also uphold the Young Adults’ Ministry as 1 group is preparing to multiply into 2 next year among their 3 CGs. Pray for the further equipping of all adult CG Leaders through monthly Zoom meetings with Rev Dr William Chang and Preacher Allan Ng and other training plans in the pipeline.
  2. Uphold the year-end outreaches in prayer, namely, the Christmas Carnival on 30 November with St Luke’s Eldercare at Block 115, the BB Sharity Gift Box in mid-December as well as the Christmas Evangelistic Service on 25 December. Pray for a mighty harvest and labourers to answer God’s call to befriend and follow up pre-believing visitors and guests, besides helping in the outreach events.
  3. Pray for Furen International School Renewal Christian Club held every Thursday afternoon whereby YCCL, QLC and LCOR partner together. Ask God for more volunteer facilitators and to use the Christian programme to touch the hearts of students, attract new ones to join and that they would be touched by the Gospel. We thank God for a new student believer who responded after only 3 months upon joining, and we pray for his follow-up to strengthen his faith.

Chinese Section

  1. Pray for Preacher Chew Lee Kim’s ministry. Thank God for leading her to complete her theological training at Trinity Theological College and for her assignment to replace the retired Bro. Chong Fu Kiong as a preacher at the Chinese Ministry of Yishun Christian Church (Lutheran) in July this year. Pray that her one-year probation which started in July this year will be successful. Pray that she and her husband, former Council Chairman Bro. David Ng can serve together in YCCL and be a blessing to many.
  2. At present, there is no administrative staff in the Chinese office, and Preacher Chew has to cover banking duties. Pray that a new Admin Staff who can also assist with ministry work can be called soon, and begin service in January 2025.
  3. Pray for the coordination between the pastors and deacons of the Chinese ministry (we currently have five deacons working with the pastors). The deacons share the administrative duties and also take charge of different ministries, including serving as the ministry chairpersons. This year, the deacons and pastors were actively involved in the Alpha Course. Pray that God will keep our deacons in good harmony with the pastors and shoulder the work of the church.

Dialect Section

  1. The Dialect ministry will organise a one-day tour of West Malaysia on 16 November (Saturday) and will visit Yongping for sightseeing. Thank God that we have brothers and sisters from the Dialect Service, the English Service, and the Chinese Service who have signed up to participate in the program, which has given us the opportunity to get to know each other in fellowship. Please pray for a safe trip especially for the elderly who join us.
  2. In addition to encouraging our brothers and sisters in the Dialect Service to attend this year’s Reformation Day Celebration at our church YCCL, we will also present two Hokkien songs – “Hold My Hand” and “Jehovah Blesses Fully.” Young people from our Youth Service and also members from our English Service will also be participating. Praise God and continue to pray for unity among our different congregations.
  3. Please continue to pray for our Dialect Service Ministry, we currently have an average of more than 100 people attending our Hokkien and Cantonese speaking Dialect Service at 11:15 p.m. every Sunday, and the attendance will be more during our Communion Sundays. We also have more than 30 leaders and volunteers to help us to do our ministry. Pray for Rev David Ng and his wife Angela that the Lord will bless them as they continue to serve the Dialect group and reach their 20th year of ministry with YCCL Dialect Service in 2025.
