LCS WICAS CARNIVAL

LCS WICAS CARNIVAL

Lanny Widjaja

LCS Sisters’ Fellowship – Women in Church and Society (WICAS) organized a fund-raising carnival for Lutheran Community Care Services (LCCS) at Jurong Christian Church on 17 August 2024. It received an overwhelming response from all the LCS congregations. The LCS Family provided great support by helping and attending the carnival. More than 400 people attended the carnival. Praise the Lord that we have raised $22,553 for the LCCS and their life-impacting work!

The LCS Family has shown compassion, generosity and unity to help the community, the marginalized, families and children (Matthew 25:35-37). Their action reflects their love for Jesus!

The carnival started at 1.30pm. People looked for food, played games, did shopping and listened to nice songs played by the ukulele teams.

People visited the stalls at the foyer to buy delicious food – chicken rice, tapioca cake, dumpling, glutinous rice, yam cake, soon kuey, siew mai, homemade mushroom soup, hot dog buns and wholesome buns. There were great desserts and thirst-quenching drinks too – peach gum dessert, red bean with tangyuan, cup cakes, cookies, Thai milk tea, bio tea, packet drinks, lemongrass, luo han guo and fruits.

People enjoyed the food, while having fellowship with others in the LCS Family! It was a precious opportunity to network with members from another congregation and to make new friends.

The ice cream cart attracted a long queue of children, youths, adults and even seniors! Next to the ice cream cart, the children were waiting patiently for their turn to have face painting.

In the multi-purpose hall, people of all age groups played games. The children played many rounds to get more prizes, while the adults and seniors reminisced over their childhood games.

Small children had fun stepping on coloured paper. Others joined in throwing darts and bouncing ping pong balls into cups. Many mastered using chopsticks to pick up marbles. People threw sticky balls and tossed rings onto cones. At the “Nerf War” booth, people shot at targets. Toddlers and small children chose their favorite designs of the colourful sculpted balloons. The seniors sat down watching a ukulele performance and sang together with them.

Back again at the foyer, many were immersed in shopping for clothing, books, jewelries, toys, woven projects and display items. Some gave direct donations and support at the LCCS Awareness booth.

The climax was the Blessed Draw. People were hoping that Reverend Terry Kee and Bishop Lu Guan Hoe would draw their coupon serial numbers.

The WICAS Committee thanks all the parties who made this carnival possible. We thank the hosting church and its team. We thank the sponsors of food, drinks, items and Blessed Draw prizes. We also thank those who prepared the food and drinks and helped to sell them at the carnival.
